Richard Brilliant

Richard Brilliant, Anna S. Garbedian Professor Emeritus in the Humanities at Columbia University, has taught a variety of courses on Greek and Roman art, visual narrative, portraiture, and the theory of art history. He received his B.A. in Classics from Yale, LL.B. from Harvard, and M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale, as well as numerous fellowships and awards that have brought him to Rome for several years of study and residence. He has traveled extensively in Western Europe and throughout the Mediterranean, the latter both on land and by sea. Author of many articles and books, including <i>My Laocoon</i> (2000) and <i>Un Americano a Roma</i> (2000), and recipient of teaching awards at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia, he is currently working on numerous book projects.
