James V. Mirollo
English and Comparative Literature
James V. Mirollo is the Parr Professor of Comparative Literature Emeritus at Columbia University. He has taught at Columbia since 1967. His courses and publications are in his specialty of European Renaissance and Baroque Literature and Art. For the Core Curriculum he teaches Literature Humanities and the Nobility and Civility Colloquium. He helped found and teaches in the Friends of the Heyman Center Alumni/ae Seminars. He is the recipient of a Great Teacher Award (1988), the Mark Van Doren Award (1995), and an Award for Distinguished Service to the Core Curriculum (1993).
