Lecturer in Contemporary Civilization
Herbert Roseman is a Lecturer in Contemporary Civilization at Columbia University. After a long career as a senior officer of a major financial firm he returned to academe and received his PhD from Columbia University in Philosophy. Consequently, he became a senior scholar and a scholar simultaneously. He also holds a Masters degree in physics and an M.B.A. His dissertation and research interests concern the problem of the existence of human altruism in a Darwinian world. He has developed mathematical models and computer simulations to explore this problem. In addition to Contemporary Civilization he has taught Philosophy of Science and published on ethical problems in applied science.
