"Religion in the Post-Enlightenment Core”

Courtney Bender, Professor in the Department of Religion, is a sociologist whose work focuses on twentieth and twenty-first century interactions among religious, secular, and spiritual organizations in the United States. She has written on the history and politics of religious pluralism, the development of spirituality in contemporary America, and currently chairs a multi-year international research program on social scientific approaches to prayer at the Social Science Research Council. 

Wayne Proudfoot, Professor in the Department of Religion, is a philosopher of religion working on nineteenth and twentieth century European and American religious thought and philosophical reflection on religion.  He has written on religious experience, concepts of God and on Pragmatism and American religious thought.
